Organize A Screening

There are a number of different issues you might be considering in organizing a screening.

The film could be presented in a small space like a library, a living room, or at a  larger venue for a bigger community event. Your event could be part of disability awareness month activities, a conference session, a training, or a class.

Screenings might be followed by informal discussion, a panel of experts, or a Q&A with the filmmakers.

Follow-up actions may include sign-up sheets for an email list or focus group, plans for exploratory meetings about inclusive arts opportunities, an experiential workshop, consultation with Polly about starting an inclusive project in your community — or some combination of these.

You will also have your own ideas on how your organization can use the film to advance its mission and goals. Some examples are raising money, increasing visibility and engagement, and identifying new community allies.

Our hope is that you and your organization will use A New Kind of Listening to lay the groundwork for an inclusive arts project in your community.  The screening event can be the first step in a process of creating new opportunities for accessible arts that are welcoming to all members of the community.

If you aren’t sure how you want to use the film, please look at our
